Who We Are

About Us

How did Shipshape Technology Inc. come to be?

What does an experienced sailor with limited leisure time and a world-renown waterway to explore do in order to make the most of his time on the water?

As President of The Façade Group, Inc, a corporation that works in multiple disciplines of Computer Engineering and Risk Management, Mark Marcelissen and his wife Donna, chose to combine specialties and create a more exact and efficient way to perform the pre-sail protocol.

With the world focusing on “the Internet of things” – everything connected to the Internet - it's absurd not to use that technology for important tasks where there may be a high possibility of human error. For instance, you may glance at your flares on-board, but did you really take note of them? Did you do your due diligence and verify the expiry date?

Probably not.

And this became the catalyst for BELOWDEX.

Now, Mark, Donna, and Samoyed, Coco, spend less time prepping and more time sailing off the shore of beautiful Kingston, Ontario.

Picturesque Kingston is the home of the yearly CORK sailing races, multiple National, North American and World competitions, and home of the 1976 Olympic sailing competition. Lake Ontario, one of five Great Lakes, boasts some of the best fresh water sailing in the world.

The city is electric with excitement when the yearly 1000 Island Poker Run, with 30+ ft of raw 300 XS Mercury outboard racing motors come tearing into town every August. Definitely an exciting city for boaters!
